About the Author
I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dogs, Kolo & Keena. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidently kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet. I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn't stop thinking of ideas. I loved every minute, every hour of sleep lost, and every character that came to life in my mind. It's strange, but my favorite moments are when I have writer's block because I can turn to my husband and find inspiration through him by just doing what we do best together. Talking, laughing, and just being in love. He doesn't like to read, but he never stops encouraging me to keep going. Writing has become an important part of my life and every book has a special place in my heart. A Story About Survival

Honestly didn't know what to expect out of this read. This is the first book I've read from this author. It actually ended up being voted as the book to read for the month of May for my Audrey Carlan Street Team Book Club. I'm SO glad we did.
This was a story about a woman who has survived, is still going through the motions of surviving, and battling to find her future. There's a large element of suspense but primarily the plot is heavy in the main characters journey to find herself after being a battered woman for years. This topic especially hits home for me because my Mother was one as well. I think the author handled the subject matter with a gentle hand that soothed the way through such a harsh issue, yet still told a "real" story. Some folks may find the book hard to read in places but I think the overall superb writing and emotion shared through both characters will help ease any difficult spots. I will definitely read more from this author.
Heat level, I'd give this book around a 5 out of 10 for a sexy, leaning on steamy, rating.

Amazing story of survival!!!!

This book was selected as the May read for the Audrey Carlan Street Team Book Club and I'm so very glad that it was. It's not every day a book hits so close to home. I'm so glad that this book was chosen by my fellows Angels for our read this month!!
Ricochet is about Ari's journey to survive several years of severe domestic violence. After nearly dying Ari is now back near her brother Jake after not having any type of contact for nearly 3 years. After Ari's ex finds her in her apartment she finds the strength to fight back so that she can get to her brother. To her surprise it isn't her brother who finds her when she makes it to her brother's apartment, it's his best friend Jack and her first true love who broke her heart after he left her and his brother without saying anything.
Ari's journey is shows us that domestic violence not only affects the victim, but everyone that cares about them. Jessica does an amazing job at showing the reader just how much Ari's situation affected her closest family and friends. Ari is not only fighting for her freedom she is fighting for her sense of self worth and how to trust again. Jake isn't going anywhere ever again. He gave up everything he ever loved when he left town and he is ready to fight for everything he has wanted for as long as he remembers!!
I highly recommend this story!!! Jessica does an amazing job explaining Ari's horrible situation over the last 2 1/2 years and her determination to move past the entire thing and find herself again. Make sure to have a couple of boxes of tissues on hand because you are guaranteed to have a few ugly cries while you read this book!! The story is well worth the ugly cries though!!
