Best Practices to create value

Author David Axson provides practical best practices for the company interested in solving one its most crucial bottlenecks in creating value. It provides a clear roadmap for the "integration" of strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting. In most companies today these are fragmented or disparate processes that lack synchronization.
This book is an excellent reference guide with clear, concise examples. A real interesting read.

Great Book to help you get better results from your finance org

Ok admit it, many of us get a business related book and skim it or never finish. In this case, I read this book cover to cover. What Mr. Axson advocates seems so common sense but yet reflects a complete paradigm shift for most of us in Finance. I work in finance for a Fortune 100 company and relate to much of what he observes: finance organizations spend too much time looking backward, finance orgs, talk about being a strategic business partner but don't really understand what that looks like. As David discusses, finance organizations are largely committed to doing things without clarity about whether those processes are helping or even hindering our business partners from being successful.
Rather than just criticizing the status quo, though, Mr. Axson offers practical suggestions for positioning the Finance function to be a strategic partner to the business units.
